Organizing Committee

The ETBD conference is organized by:

  • ESGBOR: The European Study Group for Tick-Borne Diseases (ESGBOR) is a dedicated working group within the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). ESGBOR plays a crucial role in managing tick-borne diseases, including Lyme borreliosis, by uniting European experts to provide guidance to healthcare professionals, leaders, and stakeholders. The group reviews diagnostic and treatment guidelines, publishes position statements to uphold high standards of care, and promotes knowledge exchange through research initiatives and thematic meetings.

  • SRBL: The Romanian Lyme Disease Society (SRBL) is a non-profit, non-political professional-scientific association of infectious disease physicians, doctors from other specialties involved in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease, resident doctors, and patients who, through their own experience, wish to contribute to expanding knowledge about this condition.

The Society was established out of the desire to unite the efforts and interests of all those involved in, and concerned with, improving understanding of a relatively new pathology in Romania. They aim to provide a training platform as well as a forum for sharing information on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Lyme borreliosis and other tick-borne infections.

  • UMFIH: With a tradition of over 150 years in medical education, the "Iuliu Haţieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMFIH) is today a modern university, with an international and multicultural character, a university with study programs in Romanian, English and French. UMFIH represents a constant and valuable landmark in the landscape of educational, medical and scientific research services in Romania and Central and South-Eastern Europe.

As a co-organizer of ETBD 2026, the university brings its expertise in infectious diseases and commitment to scientific collaboration to support the event.
